A router is a more sophisticated network device than either a switch or a hub. While routers, hubs and switches all share similiar physical appearance, routers differ substantially in their inner workings. Routers can join multiple networks.

Having said that, a typical small office could use an effective managed/Unmanaged Switch alongwith a router for their connectivity. Deciding the appropriate component is highly dependant on the working environment needs.

Firewall:
